beer, babes, boats – round 2!

the weather has been so ominous these days!

we lost power at the office yesterday, and a manager even had to hurry home because half his roof had blown off. totally spooky. dan and i lost power at home and it STILL hasn’t come back on. i had a freezing cold shower after bootcamp last night, and just stuck my head under the tap this morning to wet my hair and wash my face.

and then i had to do this at the office:

yeah… frigging loser!

in other news, i’m heading out of the city with a couple of girlfriends for a girls’ weekend at the cottage! last time i was there, the shitshow that ensued cannot even be put into words. but basically i wasn’t sober for even a second, and gwen shat on the neighbours lawn at 4 in the morning because we’d broken the toilet and flooded the cottage within the first fifteen minutes of our arrival.

women should not be allowed to function in the woods without men around. that’s just science. we break things and then we are left to our own devices. and in this case it was cheap beer from the grocery store and using the neighbour’s lawn as a toilet. we (grown women) played beer pong and chest bumped every time we won.

on the bright side we feasted like nobody’s business, danced to really awful 90s pop, and i’m pretty sure i saw gwen’s vagina.

win/win.

here are some of last year’s pictures:

i’m pretty sure in this next picture we’ve blocked off the sink with every towel in the cottage to stop the water that was fountaining to the ceiling… even still? PERFECT PHOTO OP!

i also managed to look like a homeless person the entire weekend- getting pretty creative with places to put my beers while i stumbled to the firepit.

but at least we feasted like QUEENS!

biggest beer pong loser EVER!

this isn’t even half the beer we managed to drink in two and a half days

is it bad that i’m actually looking foward to getting to the cottage so i can have a real shower?!

no, but seriously…

i am SO excited for car ride singalongs, destructive grocery shopping, not being sober for three days, feasting, campfires, playing cards and board games, and hopefully convincing gwen to dump on the lawn again.

have a safe weekend!

… (i know i won’t)

i love the rock & roll

“basically i miss ya a huge bunch”

my lover’s on his way home! we made it a whole 72 hours apart! gimme a fucking medal.

he’s playing a show here tomorrow night, and then next weekend he has a show at the bored to death anniversary bash and then he plays montreal on the saturday. i forgot why i don’t date musicians: because i am fucking needy!

apparently their show in toronto last night went really well and although he’s barely alive, he has a shift to work tonight, and not to mention tomorrow’s day shift before the show. poor baby!

in other news i basically have zero monies for christmas presents, not to mention groceries. jesus fuck, why can’t i manage my finances? also, i ordered dan’s gift online and haven’t received it yet, and a dress from a blogger, which i also haven’t received yet. and now i’m panicking! i feel like i don’t have time for anything and i’m relying on those two packages to not completely fail the holidays.

boo.

all i want to do this weekend is make chili, do sit-ups, and get drunk. and uh, makeout with my busy boyfriend. successful weekend?

yup.

30 days – day 5

a picture of somewhere you’ve been to:

growing up, my family never really had the money to go on expensive vacations to places we’ve never been- but every single year my parents would take us camping since we were kids… i grew up spending the summer sleeping in tents, playing in the sand dunes and spending hours in the water. it was nothing extravagant, but it was definitely an amazing way to spend my summer with family and friends…

i’ve been on one real trip my entire life, and that was to punta cana, dominican republic. i went with my parents, my brother, and my sister-in-law… and it was by far the most fun i could have ever asked for. we got to experience different foods, swim with sharks & string-ray, get absolutely shit-faced as of 9am, saw a few live shows, danced to bob marley on a sandbar in the middle of the ocean, danced with a crew member who mildly looked like snoop dogg (got so drunk i actually called him snoop dogg), tried new drinks, visited a town nearby, and spent hours upon hours roasting in the sun.

i’m glad we saved our first real trip so my brother and i were old enough to really soak up the culture and appreciate the vacation we were on. plus, we were at an age where we no longer tolerated my parents’ presence, we actually enjoyed and looked forward to it.

i know that last one is irrelevant but my sister-in-law and i put 5 bottles of bubble bath into a whirl-pool tub, and drank beers until the bubbles had pretty much reached ceiling height… we still talk about the silliness of that today- not to mention how my mum flipped out because we brought the towel swan into the tub (after my brother punted it across the bathroom floor), and told us “that’s soooooooo disrespectful”.

we still quote her.

which is sooooooooo disrespectful of us.

comics & coughs

i had another successful montreal weekend!

on friday night we headed over to alex’s place to drink 40′s and get silly. saturday morning tania and i woke up and headed to the grocery store while everyone slept to pick up tons of food to prepare a breakfast feast for everyone. and it was SO GOOD.

case in point:

i even managed to look stupid and make a dumb hungover/bedhead face! SURPRISE!

that night we all got drunk on sangria and gave each other stick & poke tattoos.

i swear i’m not a demon?

i decided to keep it nerdy and get pew! pew! tattooed to my arm, with a little gun.

also, kevin gave me a stupid tattoo that says DRAGUNZ with two flies next to it. i make good decisions. and this is what kevin’s face looks like when he says “DO YOU LIKE DRAGONS?!”

which is only slightly more horrifying than my dumb breakfast picture.

on sunday i lazed around with tania and petey

and then headed over to comiccon to meet one of my favourite characters.

brent spiner is such a funny dude! the first thing he said to me was “so, how far does that go down?”, referring to my chest tattoo. yes, i totally showed brent spiner the goods. he also said i should just take my top off so he can see the rest of them. and subsequently asked my buddy ben if he “gets to see me naked”. he said i was a “work of art” and that i had him “totally mesmerized”. holy swooning.

what is it with geeky dudes that freaking makes my palms sweat? knowledge is power?! sigh. i texted my buddy mike to tell him everything and his response was “i guess his emotion chip was fully funtional today!”

MORE SWOONING.

anyway, i got some graphic novels and a few autographs. i even got stephen a birthday present, but i can’t say what it is just yet because he reads this site and i want to keep it a surprise! i did, however, get this picture taken of darth vader and i, for him since he couldn’t be there!

he was SO TALL! i think i accidentally grabbed his butt?

and by accidentally i mean completely on purpose.

that night a bunch of us played scene it! and drank litres of coffee. best guess of the game?

“terminator 2: total recall?!”
- bizkoti

i’m exhausted but i had such a fun weekend with everyone. the only downfall? i somehow managed to catch the plague and now i’m SUPER sick.

montreal: 1

elle: 0

i get by with a little help from my friends (and nerds)

holy crap, holy crap, holy crap!

i’m taking a last minute trip to montreal this weekend to meet brent spiner! for any of you non-nerds out there, i’m talking about THIS GUY:

…CORRECT! i am meeting lieutenant commander data from STAR TREK, mother fucker!

i have a hard time deciding which crew i like best, because quite honestly i think captain kirk is bloody hilarious. but who can deny captain picard? my buddy mike described him perfectly when he said, he’s such a RIGHTEOUS leader! he’s totally right. i grew up watching the enterprise D kick some serious ASS as a kid, and i’ve always had a huge soft spot for Data and his cat, Spot.

…so much so, even, that last year i made my own costume and dressed up as him for halloween:

(excuse my drunk eyes, my last minute diy shirt, and michael’s face!)

i called tania last night because i already missed her even though i was in montreal last weekend… i’m really trying to do as much as possible to keep busy and be surrounded by my favourite people so i figured i should just head up to montreal again.

i’m a little bummed i’ll be missing stephen’s birthday drinks at the pub, but luc will be there and i figure he’d just bail if he knew i was going. stephen deserves to have his best friend there, and i think he’ll understand my need to take nerdy pictures with brent spiner. it’s just kind of a thing i need to do before i die.

i love you stephen!

i’m all hopped up on coffee and hormones and i just wanna get out of here and start the weekend! tonight a bunch of us will be chaperoning my buddy’s brother’s house party (getting drunk and hitting on young chaps), tomorrow there’s a tattoo convention i’d like to hit up (andrew wk tattoos?), and sunday is comiccon (nerdXlife). i couldn’t ask for a more positively awesome weekend.

a brief update according to my (new) blackberry

biz found a cookie jar with her name on it… literally

sarahkate and i found a mirror in homesense that makes us look SKINNY! (must purchase)

a whole bunch of us went for dinner at so good’s, and it was … sooooo gooood!

i sliced my finger open on a broken wine glass while doing dishes

i filled my purse with delicious beverages and headed over to melinda and simon’s for a super fun-filled house warming party

…where katie and khala (miraculously!) won the game of bill kramer

i also made really dumb faces for a picture (naturally)

i found a perfect pair of dark skinny jeans that don’t make me muffin-top half as bad as most pants (i hate pants!)

biz moved into a super quirky little apartment and picked big-girl paint colours!

tonight: sarahkate is cutting my hair, and we’re watching our weekly jersey shore episode with the regular JS gang

tomorrow: i head out to montreal for a show, a few parties, and some star trek movie watching.

i feel absent-minded. i’ve been sleeping like shit and i constantly feel like crying. i’m blaming it on my ovaries! i live on redbull, coffee, and carbs. i look like shit. i feel like shit. i’m drained. i can’t wait to leave the city and see all my friends- i miss everyone terribly.

real post coming soon, babies.

(a quick look into) jo’s bachelorette party

i want to make an entire post on my sister-in-law’s bachelorette party (complete with pictures), and i plan on getting into that this week… but in the meantime, here’s a quick look into the shenanigans that took place this weekend:

i pinned a penis veil into jo’s hair

we ate penis shaped cake

we played penis related games

we got bottle service at a swanky club

we drank out of penis shaped straws

we all wore ridiculously short dresses

i stole a 40 of vodka from the bar

there was a female pile-up the following morning

we all woke up with mysterious cuts, bruises, and scratches

so there you have it!

details to come ;)

my weekend, according to my blackberry

what a whirlwind!

biz, khala, dan and i decided to take a last minute trip to montreal on friday after work to see the no bunny show and hang out with some friends. we ran into a bunch of ottawa friends, i got to see some of my favourite people, and i REALLY enjoyed the no bunny set.

on saturday morning we drove home early, got mc donald’s breakfast, and i spent the day napping. that night the montrealers came over to my house to play drinking-cranium, have a dance party, and get totally silly. on sunday morning howie and i made a huge breakfast feast for all of us

when the montrealers left biz, andrew, zoe and i turned my living room into a giant bed, ate snacks, napped all day/night, and watched movies. it was GLORIOUS.

topless trips, montreal madness, and bad-ass babes

i’ve been feeling a little down and out lately. i’m really trying to stay positive but i feel like i’m falling into a bit of a rut again. on friday i went to adam’s show around midnight and m walked into the bar. i panicked briefly, had trouble breathing for a few minutes, and then immediately snapped out of it. he’s leaving the city shortly and i’m a grown woman. i need to know how to deal with these situations with grace. i could feel his eyes on me; i glanced over and he looked like he was going to cry- i immediately looked away and kept busy. he disappeared from the bar shortly after and i hadn’t seen him again for the night.

it was tania’s birthday on saturday so i decided to take a last minute trip to montreal with biz and zoe. the party was a blast- it was quite small but it was full of pop-punk sing-alongs and dancing. tania happens to live above sergio’s house (who i finally spoke of last week), but the house is undergoing some renovations so he was spending the night at his girlfriend’s mother’s house across the city. i think it’s best i didn’t see him anyway- i was feeling rowdy and alive. some of his bandmates did come though, so it was great to see them. we finally went to sleep when the sun came up- i went downstairs, and slept in the house i hadn’t been in since i’d spent the night with sergio- giggling under covers in his yellow bedroom. this time was different- a friend and i slept on blankets and a small mattress behind a couch. i woke up to kisses and bite marks on my neck.

this is definitely the mini-trip i needed- granted i didn’t sleep and i’m exhausted, i absolutely LOVE visiting my friends in montreal. i do have great pictures from the party, that i’ll likely get around to posting after work- but in the meantime i do have some blackberry pictures from the drive there and back. there’s nothing i love more than fast cars, bad music, and good friends on a mini road trip!

pre-montreal samosa and a polkadot dress!

nothing like topless road trips!

i was wrecked on the way back- we made about 5 stops for liquids and greasy food.

gatorade tongue!

$1 litre o’ cola

la belle province poutine with extra cheese!

i don’t have pictures, but we TOTALLY also stopped for milkshakes. who let’s us drive anywhere? it normally takes us two hours to get home- but we left at 4 and i didn’t get back home until roughly 8. why rush home when there’s wu tang to rap to, and bad food to stop for?

bizkoti and i got silly up front

while zoe died in the back

it was awesome seeing everyone, and i love taking mini trips with biz. we’re hopping to drive down to new york for a few days this summer. she’s one of the only people i can travel with without either panicking or totally losing my shit. everyone is so damn uptight about everything all the time! anyway, i got home and promptly removed my pants, heated up some leftover poutine, watched a chick-flick, and did this:

soooo much of it.

oh, hey! i lived! …also, an award

the fabulous cottage getaway wasn’t nearly the relaxing, happy weekend i was hoping it would be- but some good times were had despite everything. the highlights were definitely the drinking games, the girliness, and the sunshine. also, my 3 hour nap, keanu reeves jokes, and cheap beer. i don’t normally hangout with chainsmokers and that DEFINITELY put a damper on the weekend- i have a huge cough, my lungs hurt, and i can’t swallow. GREAT! yeah, yeah i’m whiny… i don’t give a care. now i have to nurse this awful pain all week.

i hate everything!

anyway, this was the view i had saturday morning when i was drinking my bailey’s coffee on the deck:

this was saturday’s amazing dinner! that garlic bread was to die for…

gold bikinis & sunshine

amanda and i <3

luc babysat moose all weekend and sent me this adorable picture to assure me that all was well at my homeland and the boy was being wonderful as always
